October 14th, 2013 – Put this date in your Agenda!

Shaggy_01
The Jamaican star of the Hot Reggae will land in Brussels for a date of his tour and, if this is not enough to run and buy a ticket, he’ll be with not alone.

sly-robbieThe legendary duo of producers Sly & Robbie straight from the ’70 – monuments of the music Reggae / Dancehall for decades. Drummer and bassist for a kind of 200,000 productions with their label “Taxi Records”. It’s enough if I say:

– “Bam Bam” and “Morder she wrote” by Chacka Demus and Pliers;

– “Driver A” (Buju Banton) is taken from their instrumental song “Unmetered Taxi“;

– Collaborations: Cutty Ranks, Jimmy Cliff, Shabba Ranks, Peter Tosh, Yellowman, Beenie Man and also Madonna, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Fugees.. etc!!

And his Barbadian friend Rayvon ( “Angel” 2001, “In the summertime” 1995) who made one of the most famous chorus of a Shaggy’s song.. Everybody start to sing and bounce on

“In the summer time when the weather is high
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather’s right
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find” (Thanks to Mungo Jerry, the original father).

Still there? I mean did you already take a pause from this article for goggling prices and details? Don’t worry.. Here you can find everything you need.

Best Reggae Album 1998 – “Boombastic” plus a lot of other nominations in the same category and one of the best Reggae artist in the field of Hot, Masculinity and Love for women songs (obviously keeping the male dominance behavior).

Yo yah hear mi Cecile (What)//

Man a man bow yah, man rule (Oh please!) //

man tings (Whatever!) //

Mantrol!

(“Man a man” feat.Cecile)

Important note is that even the famous writer Donna P. Hope talked about Shaggy as an example of Jamaican masculinity in the Dancehall scene in her book “Man Vibes: Masculinity in the Jamaican Dancehall” (That I’m reading so I can’t tell you more about it, for the moment).

Personally I will check (again after Brooklyn in 2008) Shaggy’s jamaican vybz and I really really hope that it will be a great performance from the Reggae ’70 of Sly & Robbie till his last shot “Summer in Kingston” (2011). Let me know if you decide to come too.

Mr. Summertime, Mr. Hot Summer Hits, Mr. Reggae Vybz, Mr. Lover, Mr. Boombastic and Mr. It wasn’t me!
